Change is coming!

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Recently there have been some changes (for the better!) here at 451Press and I am using this week to gear up for those changes. I have been given incentive to write a better quality blog and am excited for the future of Frugal Mania.

I will be back to posting on Monday. See you then!

Old Navy savings again!

Friday, September 21st, 2007

Old Navy is offering $10 off a $75 dollar purchase. Use the coupon code SWEATERS to get your savings. This is great for kid’s winter wardrobes.

Feed a family of four for $200 a month!

I just found this gem! Check it out and see if it will work for you!

Better Budgeting

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

This, I love!

The last tip recommends giving more. I do have to say that when I’ve given away money and things, I’d had more money and things come back into my life. Call it karma, call it perspective. I call it beneficial to one and all.

Miserly Moms

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

I have gotten so many great tips from this website.
This page is especially useful!

Inexpensive skin care

Monday, September 17th, 2007

Try baking soda as and exfoliator. Make a paste with water and baking soda and rub on your face. It works! Sugar also works well as an ex

Frugal Weekend

Friday, September 14th, 2007

I’m going to try another frugal weekend. My oldest son is invited to a birthday party tomorrow and all three boys need haircuts. The birthday gift has already been purchased and the hair cuts are budgeted. Other than that I’m going to try to stay home and not spend any money. Will you join me?

Sale and free shipping at Old Navy.com!

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

Old Navy.com is having a baby, kids and maternity sale. In addition they are offering free shipping on orders of $50 or more. Use the coupon code KIDBABYMAT.

If you are a real frugalista, you’ll be stocking up on next Spring and Summer’s clothing. If not, enjoy the already great prices at Old Navy in addition to their current sale.

The Cost of Clutter

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

I came across this article in my frugal searching recently. I can say for myself that cutting clutter can make your life so much easier. If you have sale able clutter, you can make some money, too!

The Stretcher

What a wonderful website! So much information. Enjoy!

Cut sugar, save money and more

Monday, September 10th, 2007

I’m cutting out sugar. Not only is it healthier but it will save money. I am addicted to sugar. Maybe only psychologically, but there is still a dependency there for me. I’ve tried cutting out sugar before. It is very hard and I have never succeeded. I have recently addressed my need for sweets and am ready to try again.

If you have cut sugar out of your life, please comment with your story!

Another pantry list

Friday, September 7th, 2007

I like this list for keeping a good, stocked pantry. Keeping these items on hand instead of packaged convenience foods is a healthy plan.

Christmas in September?

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

You betcha! Get started now. Buy (or make! More about that another day) one gift each pay period. If those with whom you exchange gifts are game, agree to draw names or nix gift gifting altogether. Do something fun together like planning a meal. Spend money on yummy, homemade favorites instead of on gifts.

For children, be careful right now. With all of the lead in the paint on popular toys, you might want to think of alternative ideas.

Waste not, want seconds

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

I love to cook. Many times in the past I’ve bought an ingredient for a recipe, used it once and then had to throw out the remainder because it went bad or I had to search to find other recipes in which I could use the ingredient.

Kraft has come up with a way to help stop the waste. They list weekly menu plans using the some of the same ingredients!

A frugal reminder: Even though they list their brands as the specific ones to use, you can use your favorite frugal brand instead.

How the other half spends

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

One of my favorite series of books is the Shopaholic series. I adore these books. The main character, Becky Bloomwood Brandon, is a lovable, if not a little excitable, girl who loves shopping. And shop she does! It’s a mindset that is foreign to me but I love stepping in to Becky’s head to read about her hilarious adventures in a designer obsessed world.
