The awesome resource called — The Library
Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one of my friends that still uses the library. It just feels like such an outdated idea, but I think people just don’t utilize this reall great not to leave out FREE resource.
The first thing that probably comes to mind when people think of the library is books — But it’s not just novels. But they’ve also got:
- Travel books
- Cook books, nutiritonal eating, healthy lifestyles
- Excercise books
- Self help and spritual books
- Plays and musical scores
But do you know what the library has besides books??
Movies - Maybe you’ve had to cut back on having netflix, going to the movies, or having cable. Go to your library and rent movies there… for free.
Magazines - Maybe you’ve also cancelled magazine subscriptions to save some money - check out what your library has - maybe even suggest a publication they can order.
CDs, books on tape, language tapes - If you travel or spend alot of time in your car, the best thing ever is books on tape. Also is your new year’s resolution to learn a new language? Start today by picking up some language tapes at your local library.
Book readings, yoga, classes, seminars - Every library has different events they host. Some of them bring in authors to do book readings. One by me offers yoga classes during the week. There’s also alot of training classes and seminars on an array of topics.
Internet access - Being able to get on the internet for free maybe the second most popular asset the library system offers. Every computer always seems to be taken that they usually put a time limit on how long you can use it. But if you don’t have access to the internet, it’s almost essential in today’s world - so go use it at the library.
The blog Genre Fiction just wrote about the U.S. census saying more Americans are reading - sounds like more Americans could be using their local public library.
